Preparing for Recruitment

Prparing for recruitment takes 2 steps:

1. Register for recruitment with the Greek Life Office on your college campus.

2. Letters of Recommendation/Recruitment Information Forms/Sponsorship Letters - Although not required for the Potential New Member (PNM) to acquire, a PNM can ask someone to write a letter of recommendation on their behalf. The best recommendation comes from a sorority woman who already knows you. **Many sororities no longer require a letter of recomedation to join - verify with the sororities represented on your college campus as to which ones require them.

If you don't know someone in a certain sorority, any alumnae of that sorority can write recommendation letters on your behalf. A letter of recommendation serves as an opportunity for an alumnae to introduce you to a chapter before the recruitment process begins. The alumnae will contact their sorority’s headquarters or website for more information. It is NOT up to the PNM to provide the form or to advise them where to send it.

When requesting a letter of recommendation, provide the following with your request:
      a. A short cover letter introducing yourself and where you will attend college, also sharing your goals and aspirations for college and sorority life.
      b. Your resume including test scores
      c. Copy of your transcript. It can be an unofficial copy. Remember to mark out your social security number.
      d.   2 or 3 different photos that sororities will use to identify you when you walk in their door. These do not have to be professional portraits. Current 4X6 snapshots of yourself only.
     e. A thank you note. The alumnae are volunteering their time for you, so it is appropriate to send a note to show your appreciation for the effort they are making to help you.
